Loving Spoonful’s The GROW Project engaged students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 through hands-on, curriculum-connected learning around good food, community, collaboration, and environmental stewardship.
These lesson plans were developed for educators to use to teach students important life skills for long-term health and eco-literacy, while building engagement and a connection to their community. Lesson plans are tailored to Junior, Primary, and Intermediate grades, and broken down into modules that can be done throughout the school year.
We consciously integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) opportunities throughout our resources through an inquiry lens. We followed a general 5 Es of Inquiry Based Learning structure which you can learn more about in each lesson/module.
Ultimately, The GROW Project aimed to foster a resilient community that nourishes and supports dignified access to good, local food for all, by helping students learn about food systems, their role within it, and how to make a difference in their community.
