Volunteer with Us!

You'll make a world of difference by connecting people with healthy food.

Many volunteer opportunities at Loving Spoonful vary throughout the year, but here is a list of the main roles that are essential to our programs.

Fresh Food Delivery Drivers

Food Reclamation

Deliver fresh, healthy food from grocery stores, restaurants, and our cold storage to local shelters, and meal programs by car, and reduce food waste while you're at it! Daytime and weekend volunteer opportunities are available year round. You can sign up for recurring or occasional routes, depending on your schedule.

Market Booth Ambassadors

Grow A Row

Enjoy the market during summer while collecting fresh healthy produce at the Downtown Kingston Public Market or at the Memorial Centre Farmers Market. Volunteer opportunities are available from May to October. You can volunteer once a month or once a week.

Workshop Assistants

GROW Project

If you like kids, good food and community, volunteering with the GROW Project might be right for you! Workshop Assistants help our staff facilitators to teach kids in Grades 4 to 8 about food security, gardening, healthy eating, community and cooking through in-class workshops. Workshops are delivered in 21 different elementary schools (35 classes) in the Greater Kingston area during the school year. They run for approximately 2 hours each on weekdays, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Choose the shifts that are most convenient for you; no regular commitment is required.

Kitchen Workshop Assistants

Community Kitchens

Help out in cooking classes where we make healthy, affordable meals, building food literacy and community as we work together in the kitchen and share meals. Some food skills and an outgoing and encouraging attitude are required; opportunities vary throughout the year.

Event Support

Primarily during summer months, volunteers help plan, execute and staff our community-building and fundraising events.

Food Reclamation

Spend some time in the fresh air during late summer and fall harvest season, and help to reduce food waste. Gleaners collect surplus crops from farmers' fields which are redistributed to Kingston communities who need it. Volunteer opportunities are available from August to November.
